Scales

The scale sets how much your building is shrunk down for printing. You choose it in the final Export step — in the main panel, via the big scale readout, the twelve clickable reference marks and the "Scale" dropdown.

How to read a scale

A scale like 1:87 means the printed model is 87 times smaller than the real building. The smaller the second number (the divisor), the bigger the printed object.

Bigger or smaller?

Larger scale = larger object = smaller divisor. So 1:24 is a larger scale than 1:160 — and the model comes out correspondingly bigger.

Range and setting

You can pick the scale freely from 1:10 to 1:300. The dropdown is stepped like this:

  • 1:300 to 1:100 in steps of 5 (1:300, 1:295, … 1:100)
  • 1:99 to 1:10 in steps of 1 (1:99, 1:98, … 1:10)

On top of that, the twelve reference marks jump you straight to a common value; between the marks you can set any value you like within the allowed range.

Only whole divisors are freely selectable

The in-between value 1:22,5 is only reachable via its reference mark — the free dropdown (1:10–1:300) knows only whole divisors.

Two common gauges hit the marks exactly: H0 = 1:87 and N = 1:160.

Small scale, different build

For very small models the house is simplified and exported as one solid body. For everything else that changes at export when you switch scale, see the Export page.
