Floors¶
Step 1 is the start. You set how many full floors your building has and how tall each one becomes.
Number of floors¶
In the main panel, under "Number of floors", you set the number of floors with the − and + buttons.
| Value | |
|---|---|
| Minimum | 1 floor |
| Maximum | 10 floors |
| Starting value of a new project | 1 floor |
The first floor is called Ground floor, each one above it Floor 1, Floor 2 and so on.
Floor-to-floor height¶
Every floor gets its own height. You'll find it on the right in the parameter panel under "Floor-to-floor height" — one number tile per floor, with a section drawing of the floor to the left, the topmost one with a roof. The tile carries a bar you can drag, and a button on the left and on the right for the fine step.
| Setting | Range |
|---|---|
| Floor-to-floor height ground floor | 0.60 m to 20.00 m |
| Floor-to-floor height upper floors | 0.60 m to 10.00 m |
| Step size | 0.10 m |
Floor-to-floor height and ceiling height
What you set is the floor-to-floor height — the height of the storey including its slab. The ceiling height, i.e. the clear height inside the room, is 0.30 m less in each case; that is how thick the floor slab is. Set 3.30 m and you stand in a room of 3.00 m. The app states this once as well, directly below the heading.
The top floor carries the roof
With a sloped roof, the tile of the top floor doesn't start at the smallest value but at the height that pitch needs — otherwise the roof would cut below the floor. The table is under Roof → Pitch. Conversely, the height you set also limits the pitch you can choose.
Roof and eaves¶
A note in the parameter panel reminds you: The roof sits directly on the top floor. There is no separate ceiling on top.
Top floor = roof pivot point
With more than one floor, the height of the top floor also sets the roof pivot point, i.e. the eaves. What eaves and ridge mean is explained in the Glossary.
Once the floors are set, continue with the Floor plan.
