Printers & print bed

At the Export step, under Print target, you set what PrintHaus prepares the print data for. There are four tiles to choose from: Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer and STL export.

The printer in four steps

With the three programs you pick, one after the other, manufacturer → printer → nozzle → layer height. Taken together, PrintHaus knows 532 printer models from 84 manufacturers; per program only those devices are offered that this program actually brings along:

Many devices appear in several lists. What is offered still depends on the program you chose: the same machine can have different nozzles and different layer heights in Bambu Studio than in OrcaSlicer — only what exists there is shown.

Bambu Lab devices go their own way

For the 14 Bambu Lab machines (A1 mini · A1 · A2L · P1P · P1S · P2S · X1 · X1 Carbon · X1E · X2D · H2C · H2S · H2D · H2D Pro) PrintHaus brings its own, proven print templates — there a 3MF with complete print settings comes out, several plates in one file. For the other 78 devices that Bambu Studio also knows, the same path applies as with OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer.

What is in the file — and what isn't

The 3MF files for OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer and the non-Bambu devices in Bambu Studio carry the geometry and the PrintHaus print settings. On top of that come three dimensions of your device, so that the program can classify the file at all: bed size, build height and nozzle diameter. The temperatures come from PrintHaus, not from your device.

Not included are the G-code of your printer — the start and end sequence that every manufacturer does its own way — and the manufacturer's profile names.

Hence the order when opening: first set your printer in your program, then open the file. Only then does the print get the sequences of your device.

Nozzle

The default is 0.4 mm. Which nozzles are additionally available depends on the device and on the scale — a coarse nozzle can no longer reproduce the fine edges of a small model:

If your device has no suitable nozzle at all for the chosen scale, its finest one remains — the selection is never empty.

Layer height

The layer height is preset with a recommendation (marked in the list as "— recommended") and can be changed. Only what meets four conditions at once is offered:

  1. The device really has this layer height as a profile in this program.
  2. It is below the ceiling of your scale (table below).
  3. It lies between 20 % and 75 % of the nozzle width — below that the bead doesn't lay down cleanly, above that it no longer bonds reliably to the layer beneath.
  4. It lies within the limits of the device.

The ceiling per scale

The values apply to the 0.4 mm nozzle; with other nozzles they grow in the same proportion (0.6 mm → one and a half times, 0.8 mm → twice).

Exception: the 0.2 mm nozzle

With the 0.2 mm nozzle a fixed ceiling of 0.08 mm applies — independent of the scale. The scaled-along ceiling would be so low there that exactly one value would be left.

Build plate size with STL export

If your printer isn't in the list, or if you want STL, you enter the plate dimensions yourself — separately for width (X) and depth (Y), in 1 mm steps. The default is 256 × 256 mm, the maximum 1000 mm.

Minimum bed size by scale

Large models need a large bed. The lower limit applies to both edges — and it does so equally for your own entry with STL export and for the device list of the three programs: a printer whose shorter bed edge is below it isn't offered for that scale in the first place.

Fewer manufacturers with large models

Because whole classes of devices drop out, the choice of manufacturers shrinks with large models too. If you change the scale and your previous device no longer fits, PrintHaus resets the selection.

Does it all fit on the bed?

Parts that are too big

If a part category doesn't fit flat on the set bed, PrintHaus points it out and names the affected categories. Such parts either overhang the edge or are split up for printing — see Connectors & splitting.
