Facades and window details¶
Facade details are set per building volume. The main building and active extensions retain separate values. Icons highlight the selected part in yellow; hovering briefly shows an explanation in the selected language.
Main and independent annex barrel roofs do not allow an additional eaves cornice. Switching to a barrel roof turns off an existing cornice selection while preserving the building and its other facade settings. The same rule applies to the AI interface without a confirmation question. Annexes under the main roof follow its rule; independent roofs of other shapes keep their permitted cornice choice.
Facade editor in Floor plan¶
In Floor plan, open the Facade editor from the right parameter panel. It is available for templates and free plans. For free plans, the edit and discard actions sit above it; the drawing hint disappears once the plan is applied.
Select the main building or an extension at the top. Corner details and the string course are on the left, the plinth on the right. Small windows use group tabs. The scale preview shows the right half of the facade up to the eaves and a profile section. Inspect complete connections in the 3D preview.
- Apply saves the selected volume and selects the next one, returning to the main building after the last. The editor stays open.
- Apply all saves all separate drafts and closes. It does not copy settings to other volumes.
- Discard discards only changes that have not yet been applied and closes.
The 3D preview stays unchanged until you apply. Apply is disabled when nothing has changed.
Timber framing¶
Enable timber framing for the selected building volume in the facade editor. Apply it jointly or select individual storeys and available gables. Beam width is set in centimetres.
Corners, string course and plinth¶
| Detail | Choice and reference |
|---|---|
| Corners | Off, corner pilaster strip or quoins |
| String course | Available from two full storeys; height 10, 15 or 20 cm |
| Plinth height | From the underside of the base slab; up to 3 m, limited by the selected volume's wall height |
| Upper plinth projection | 5, 10 or 15 cm |
| Additional lower projection | 0, 5, 10 or 15 cm |
| Relief | −0.5, 0.5 or 1 mm on the printed model |
Negative relief is recessed from the smooth wall; positive relief projects beyond the texture. The dimension icon shows a recess or a thin or thick projection. Building dimensions in cm are instead reduced with the model scale.
Enable or disable Plinth texture in the facade editor. Choose its pattern under Extras → Textures / Surfaces → Plinth, separately for each volume. Sloping plinth fronts also receive this texture; string courses inherit the wall texture.
A separate plinth texture is available only with positive relief.
Roof overhang or cornice¶
In Roof, the right panel offers two icons: Roof overhang and Cornice. Overhang displays its controls; cornice displays three types in one row. Changes apply immediately to the selected volume. Stored overhang values become active again when you switch back.
The target clearance between the top of the window and the underside of the cornice is 10 cm; a 15% tolerance permits a minimum of 8.5 cm. If the room height is insufficient, PrintHaus proposes an increase. The cornice is then applied only after your confirmation; window dimensions are preserved.
| Cornice | Height | Projection |
|---|---|---|
| Plain | 20 cm | 20 cm |
| Profiled | 40 cm | 35 cm |
| With decorative brackets | 60 cm including brackets | 50 cm |
The cove profile meets the actual roof underside. It works at pitched-roof eaves and on ordinary flat roofs, excluding roof terraces. Cornice and wall form one printed part; the roof remains separate.
Window details in Extras¶
Under Extras → Facade details, the window-details icon opens the controls on the right. Main building and extensions have separate drafts. The combined window preview and Apply button sit in the main panel; only this click changes the model and 3D preview.
Options include a full surround 10, 15 or 20 cm wide or a decorative lintel suited to the opening contour, keystone, stone sill, spandrel panel and straight, triangular or curved window pediment. The keystone appears only with a surround or decorative lintel, never extends below the lintel underside and cannot be combined with a pediment. The lower relief control appears only when a pediment is selected.
Decorative lintels are intended for rectangular windows and segmental-arch openings. They are unavailable for round or pointed arches and round, oval or semi-elliptical windows. A decorative lintel is 20 cm high and extends 10 cm beyond each side of the opening; on segmental arches it follows the actual arch contour. The selectable surround width applies only to the full surround.
The stone sill projects 5 cm beyond the surround front and temporarily replaces the regular frame sill. Spandrel panels can be recessed depending on relief and are omitted if space is insufficient. Triangular and curved pediments have a recessed field and a surrounding moulded frame. The straight type is 8 cm high and projects 5 cm; triangular and curved types are 40 cm high and project 7 and 10 cm respectively beyond the surround front. Without a projecting surround, the outer wall or texture surface is the reference.
No stone sill is generated below a sill height of 10 cm. At 10 cm or higher, it is generated when the option is enabled.
Shutters and roller shutters¶
For each exterior window in Openings, choose off, open, closed or roller shutter. Open and closed shutters offer louvred, boarded and panelled styles. Roller shutters close from the top between 0 and 100%. Preview colours default to dark green for shutters and light grey for roller shutters; custom colours are retained.
Open shutters belong to the wall. Closed shutters and roller shutters are fused to the insertable frame; the covered area is solid up to the inner frame edge. Glass is omitted there and retained in the uncovered area of a partially closed roller shutter. An active frame sill shortens shutters accordingly. Unsuitable dimensions or insufficient space are explained; changes that remove parts require the displayed confirmation.
Corner glazing joins two window sides at a right-angled outer or inner corner. Choose the corner-glazing icon in the window editor, configure both sides and apply. Then click a suitable corner in the plan. Outer and inner corners have separate icons. Each side A/B can have its own straight roller shutter, color and closure from 0 to 100%. Their guides meet at the shared corner post. Hinged shutters and pediments are unavailable here. A keystone is not available for corner or inner-corner glazing.
Party walls and print connections¶
Under Floor plan → Party walls, mark multiple edges in yellow. Your wall remains; texture, decoration and roof overhang towards the neighbour are omitted. Affected openings and attachments are listed together before removal. Deselecting does not restore them; Undo reverses the whole change.
The insertion path of extension walls and their dovetail connectors stays clear of facade details and textures, even without texturing. At ground level, the outer wall foot reaches the base slab underside without the former 10 × 10 cm chamfer; the texture continues to the bottom. Existing connector scale limits remain. New fine strips and grooves are at least 0.5 mm wide in the printed model; structural fit clearances stay unchanged.
